Devotional for this week: Obedience

What are you waiting for?

What has God told you to do lately?

Why have you not stepped out and did that thing or things?

What’s stopping you?

What’s holding you back?

What are you waiting for?

Lets open this up with defining Obedience.

Obedience: an act or instance of obeying; the quality or state of being obedient.

So as I was studying I came across something in my journal that I had written down a while ago:

“Why would you ask for more when you aint did what I already told you to do?”

Whew! Can we take a moment and analyze how God will check you on something, I literally asked God for something this was his answer to what I was asking him for, he brought me right back to that statement!

If you feel any type of way like I did reading that statement then there is probably some things God has called you to do and you may have been or currently dragging your feet on actually doing those things, or you just straight up questioned God like, ummmmm idk if I can do that lord.

Did he call you to do it?

Did he give the words to say?

Did he give you the blueprint for it?

YES?

THEN BELIEVE HE WILL SUPPLY IT?

Let’s get into it:

We can’t choose when want to obey God, we also can’t have selective obedience, this is still DISOBEDIENCE!

I can think of times that God has specifically told me to do things, I’ve literally picked and chose which things I wanted to act on because it was within my comfort zone, thats not doing what He told me to do, which means I’m technically disobeying God because I half did what I was told, which also means I don’t trust God, or believe that he will provide for me. OOP! Lets continue.

You still have to Obey even when you don’t understand!

Obedience requires Sacrifice, You can’t be a servant without obedience.

Think about Abraham when God told him to leave everything behind and follow him, God promised him a great nation, so on and so fourth, he didn’t understand, BUT he OBEYD Gods call and held on to that promise God told him.

Obedience is such a hard topic, because we know we have to literally allow God to take the drivers seat, we know we have to die to ourselves and allow him to be in control, we are human we want everything to go our way, we only want to do whats in our comfort, we only want to do what we feel like we are qualified to do. Thats okay but we have to see ourselves the same way God sees us, we are more than enough to do whatever it is that he’s called us to do, everything we need is within us, we were created to do this. Think if we take out the worrying, doubt, and fear how God can use us, stretch us, mold us into what he needs us to be. Let him show you the way, let him do his part, Trust me It was hard for me to take myself out of the equation and realize None of this is about me, its about God, him getting the glory, Lives being changed, people being healed and set free. There are people on the other side of Your obedience!! Whatever it is, let God show you the way, let him provide for you, let him show you how faithful he is.

God I thank you for this day, God we love you so much, we thank you for being our protector, our provider, we thank you for your love, we thank you for always being there, we thank you That we don’t have to come to you perfect, we thank you for meeting us right where we are, God you know every need, you know every single thing we are fighting with, we place them at your feet right now, God I ask that you show each and every person how to walk in obedience to you, God grace each of us to continually walk in obedience no matter what it may look like no matter how uncomfortable it may be.

God I thank you in Jesus name
